2022 Poetry Contest
This is the 27th year of the Voices of Peace Poetry Contest sponsored by the Cape Cod Veterans for Peace, Corporal Jeffrey M. Lucey Chapter 041. Support and assistance is provided by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod,Guyer Barn Poets of Cape Cod, who volunteer on the judging panel, Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, along with Jeffrey Lucey’s family. Despite the pandemic, last year’s contest inspired a total of 438 poems representing 29 schools with 51 teachers facilitating student submissions. We were thrilled that our contest has generated so many poems during this time of uncertainty and virtual learning. With hope in mind, we offer the contest again this year. The contest runs from January 2022 through April 1, 2022, providing more time for on-line learning. The preferred submission format is a PDF file attached to an email sent to teppern@verizon.net, with the subject line: VFP poetry Contest. Poems will still be accepted through regular mail. All entries must be received (not just postmarked) by 5:00 PM, Friday, April 1, 2022. Mail entries to: Veterans For Peace, c/o Duke Ellis, 45 Sassafras Lane, Marstons Mills, MA 02648. Unfortunately, to be safe, we will again not plan an in-person Awards Ceremony this year. All winners will receive a certificate, a published book, and an invitation to upload video clips of themselves reading their poems. Winners will be notified about the video submission after the judging take place in April. The poetry book and videos from last year’s poetry contest are available to view on our website: vfpcapecod.org.2022 Poetry Contest. |
